Weather Forecasting

Dear all,

Please ask yourself both the following questions before you read the materials.
1. How do you think weather forecasts are made?
2. In your book, what does probability of precipitation (POP) mean? Does POP have anything to do with the intensity or the duration time of the rainfall?

Here are the articles:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_forecasting
http://www.weatherquestions.com/How_are_weather_forecasts_made.htm

I’d also like to know:
3. Do the articles change your opinion about weather forecasting? How?
4. Do you think perfect weather forecasts are possible in the near future? Why?
5. Do you have any advice for the Central Weather Bureau?

Hope you’ll enjoy the topic!
Best regards,

Stefano
