Booze it up! A must in parties?

Hi all,

Since yen-wei is going to study in a college in the States, i can't help but recall one fun experience i had back in UBC--yah, parties! Speaking of parties, it seems inevitable to see this "complimentary drink", that is alcohol, as playing a critical role in determining how tempting a party is and how fun it will turn out to be. In my personal experience, i guess i have no reasons not to give credits to this magical booze, especially as it usually successfully loosens up party attendants, which leads to a more engaging ambiance in the party. (well, thanks to alcohol, asian people are likely to enjoy the party more as we all tend to be a bit too shy :P)

But educators or worried parents may frawn at the tendancy of binge drinking at parties, either because of the time-honored negative association between booze and crime, or because of the recent reports and warnings on the diasterous consequences alcohol-consumption are likely to bring about. Take a look at the following article:

Alright, if alcohol isn't such a good idea to be offered at parties, what else can we do to lure people to come to our parties, and when they do show up, how can we lighten up their spirits? Here are some ideas:

Finally, curious about what the top ten party-school list is? Here's what u r looking for:

In the coming meeting, we will discuss:
1. What is your party-going experience? Any funky experiences to share?
2. Do you drink alcohol at parties? Do you consider it a must? How do you feel after guzzling down several cups of booze?
3. How do you find alcohol-free parties? Any other ideas of throwing "alternative" parties?
4. After all the discussion, would you serve alcohol at YOUR own party? (Be honest!)

That's basically it. we'll talk more next tuesday. Until then, stay sober! :)
