6/9 Topic II: Does the Internet Make You Smarter or Dumber?

As a retreat from my last "heavy" choice, the topic I picked for our next meeting concerns something we use every day: the Internet, offering abundance of information, irresistible bargains, and entertaining gossips, just to name a few. Yet sometimes we become so accustomed to the convenience that the Internet brings that we neglect the drawbacks it may carry. The following two articles observe the phenomenon from different angles:

Does the Internet Make You Dumber?

After reading the two pieces above, please reflect on your own experiences in using the Internet. Do you agree with the arguments raised in the articles? How has the use of the Internet affected you intellectually? Which features of the Internet, if any, would you label as making people smarter/dumber?

If you happen to have some spare time at hand, you could read through the following two pieces as well.

See you all Wednesday!
