6/2 Topic I: Facebook and Its Privacy Issues



We all have Facebook accounts. Whether we check it often or not, our information is pretty much out there and across the Internet, ergo, Internet privacy becomes a growing concern for a growing community of FB users. Just a week ago, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of FB, annouced newer and simpler privacy settings will be introduced for users, and he didn't do so without inviting criticism.

Please read the following main articles (better, the supplementary piece too), and think about how social networking -Facebook, and mini-blogging -twitter and Pluck have influenced you or your family and friends. What are the pros and cons and the consequences of both?

I think it'll be interesting to also talk about social net-working in behavioral and psychological terms. What do you think about sharing your personal life with people that you're close to and people that you're not so close to (but still in your friend list)?
